How to publish your site :)
This article is about how to publish your site and get, transfer, or connect a domain.
*🖼️ You will find screenshots for each step.
So you have put in all of the hard work to build your amazing new website, you have customized it and you are so excited to get it out there into the world! 🎉
Let's make your website live:
Go to Settings down on the left-hand corner. This will bring up the Settings menu.
Click on Website.
Then Click on Site Availability.
• You can see you have the option to have it Private which means only you can see the content of your website, you can also have it Password Protected, and in order to make it Public you need to choose a plan:
Click on Upgrade to Publish. This will take you to the different Squarespace Plans available.
*Choose the plan that works for you.
⭐️ The right Squarespace plan for your small business will depend on what exactly you need and what features you want included in your website.
For example, if you want to add a basic shop, you will need to purchase a Business Plan at a minimum. If you want a more complex shop, with more advanced e-commerce features, you will need to purchase a Commerce Plan or above.
📧 With the Business plan you get a free year of the Google Workspace Starter plan so you can create an email address for your custom domain.
3. Select the plan and this will open a page where you will pop in your credit card details and then your website will be paid for.
💡This is where the 20% off discount from DM Web comes into play for your Annual Subscription.
4. Then lastly, you'll go back to Settings.
5. Click Site Availability, choose Public and save.
And then your website will be live!
• Let's work on your domain:
Your Domain is your website’s address on the internet and will always be shown up in the top of the website browser.
When you create your website within Squarespace you are automatically going to be assigned a build-in domain that can be customized.
Go to Settings down on the left-hand corner. This will bring up the Settings menu.
Click on Domains and Email.
Then Click on Domains.
• You can purchase your Domain directly from Squarespace.
All Squarespace’s subscriptions come with one free year of your custom domain if you purchase an annual plan, which is really nice.
4. Click on Get a Domain.
5. Once you’re there you can search any domain name you would like in the search bar, and Squarespace will let you know if it’s available or not. Squarespace will also give you some alternative options.
• If for some reason you can’t find the name you like with Squarespace, you also have the option of purchasing your domain through a third party provider like GoDaddy and connect the domain to Squarespace or transfer the domain to Squarespace.
However, it is a massive advantage to host your domain within Squarespace because everything is just in one place.
6. Once you found a domain that you love, you can go ahead and click on the little checkout car next to it and follow the steps to purchase your domain.
Once you’re done with all of that, your domain will automatically be added to your new site
🔸 Remember, all Squarespace’s subscriptions come with one free year of your custom domain if you purchase an annual plan. Past that first year, your domain is probably going to set you back around $20 to $40 dollars.
• If you already own a Domain and you want to connect it to your Squarespace account:
Go back into your main account dashboard by clicking the X up on the right hand corner.
Click on Domains.
Click on Use a Domain I own.
From there you can choose which domain you want to transfer/connect to your account.
5. Then in the popup window click either Transfer domain or connect domain. You will then be brought into an easy transferring/connecting domain process.
6. Start the process :)
Now your website is ready to be launch to the world!
I’m so curious to see what you've created!
